Sometimes and Always #8

It's Tuesday again.  *Sigh*  Why is my life passing me by?  I'm linking up again with Megan over at Mackey Madness to share my sometimes and always because it really does make Tuesdays better.  Hope you all are having a great Tuesday!

Sometimes - I feel like I am in a rut at work and wonder if it is all worth it.  I have so many things I have to do to finish up my last year of law school, and work is just not helping give me the time to get it all done.  *Sigh*

Always - I would rather be at home playing with my sweet babies than doing any of this other junk that is just wasting my time.  I mean, I know what is really important in life and this is it...

Sometimes - I really enjoy getting to see old friends I haven't seen in a long time.

Always - It makes me sad to see how much time has passed since the last time we were together.

Sometimes - I really love watching Team USA win the gold in the Olympics.

Always - I am actually okay when one of our athletes doesn't win because she has a bad attitude because she obviously messed up and didn't deserve it!

Seriously, Makayla, you needed a reality check.  I am truly sorry you fell on your butt doing your very difficult vault, but you really acted like a sore loser!  Cheer up!  You're young and have a long life ahead of you.  As my mama always said, "You'll get glad in the same drawers you got mad in."  Hehe!

This girl, Gabby Douglas, was a real winner.  Even though she didn't win a medal last night for her uneven bars routine, she had that winning spirit we all know and love!  So proud of her!

Sometimes and Always #7

I can't believe another Tuesday is here (and almost gone) again.  Is it just me or is the summer flying by?  I'm linking up again with Megan over at Mackey Madness because these posts really get me to "come out of my shell" a little.  Hope you all are having a great Tuesday!

Sometimes - I feel so unappreciated at work.  *Sigh*  It has just been one of those days.

Always - I am just thankful to have a decent job these days and hopeful of future prospects as I grow my career and education.

Sometimes - I really get so fed up with how rude people can be.  Seriously, it's like rules (social or otherwise) just don't apply to them.  *Sigh again* Just one of those days!

Always - Thankful that I was "raised" right and know how to use my manners and treat people with respect even when they don't do the same to me.  Golden rule, folks!

Sometimes - I can't believe how quickly time seems to be passing.  Is it really already the end of July?

Always - I am anxiously awaiting our beach trip at the end of August although that means I will also be returning to school for another grueling semester.

Sometimes - I can't believe Evan starts Kindergarten in just a few weeks!

Always - I am so proud of him and know he is ready!

He made it to W in one of his summer workbooks.  This is just a refresher since he already knows how to write all his letters.
He started math!  He is learning to add with the help of his nanny!

Sometimes - I can't believe a good deal!

Always - I have to snatch up a good deal when I see it!  These books at Target were a great find in the $1 bins, and I had to snatch them up for the boys' collection.

Sometimes - I am so sad for my little guys when they have to endure painful shots.

Always - I am so thankful for vaccines that keep our little ones safe from terrible diseases!

Brody did so well getting his 15 month shots and barely whimpered.  He went right to sleep in the car...takes a lot out of a little one!

Sometimes - I just need to see these faces to remind me that everything is right in the world.

Always - I need to get home and give them all a big hug and kiss.

Sometimes and Always #6

I'm back to link up with Megan at Mackey Madness for the 6th week!  Come and join the fun over at her sweet blog!

Sometimes - I can't help but let my little men sleep in the bed with me when their daddy is away.

Always - I never sleep very well when my husband is away and my kids are in the bed with me.  I am either too worried about being alone in the house and being the only protector for my babies, or I am worried that if I fall asleep, I'll sleep too heavily and not hear if my children need me.  When Eddie is here, he is definitely the lighter sleeper, and I have come to depend on him waking me up if needed.  However, when he is away, I guess my mommy instinct kicks in and won't let me sleep as soundly.

Always (there's no sometimes for this one) - I am so glad when my husband gets home after being away for a night or two.

Sometimes - my boys can be a handful!

Always - I love the way they love each other!

Sometimes - I could lay and look at this precious face all night.

Always - I need my sleep!

Sometimes - law school classes are really boring.

Always - There is a class that really teaches you something shockingly profound and useful.  Tonight, a professor for the UNC School of Government spoke to us about the difficult job judges have of making fair and just decisions when it is human nature to automatically process, stereotype, and allow bias to influence our decisions.  Literally, our brains are made to function on "autopilot" so that we can react more quickly in dangerous situations for survival.  We need to be aware of our biases so that we can make a conscious effort to override "autopilot" and actually base our decisions on careful thought.  It was definitely an interesting and personally challenging lecture.  I think we all need to realize and come to terms with our personal biases...we all have them and just need to work on overcoming them.  If you are interested in learning more about your own personal biases that are built into your brain, you may want to go take the Implicit Association Test (IAT).

I had a little trouble coming up with these tonight in case you couldn't tell!

Sometimes and Always #5

I'm a little late and wasn't sure I really had anything to write about this week, but I decided to give it a shot so I'm back to link up with Mackey Madness for the 5th week!

Sometimes - I wish I didn't like to pick fights with my husband so much.

Always - I am so thankful when we make up and that he lets me vent my anger at the world and take it out on him.  He knows that I just need to get it out sometimes!

Sometimes - I get really tired of the weird things my husband watches on TV.

Always - I am so happy when my husband lets me watch something on TV like tonight's season finale of Pregnant in Heels.  I love Rosie Pope (even if she does have a weird speech impediment...haha)!

Sometimes - I know I need to go to sleep earlier so I won't have so much trouble getting up in the morning.

Always - I need time to unwind after getting home from a late night class and have to catch up on my blog reading and writing before I go to sleep!

Well, since it is almost midnight, that's all I got for tonight!

Sometimes and Always #4

That's right, folks!  Fourth week of doing the Sometimes and Always link ups.  Hey, when I promise, I deliver!  Hehe!  Hop on over to Mackey Madness and join the fun!

Sometimes - I am jealous when my husband gets to be home in the evenings spending time with our babies while I am at school.

Always - I am so thankful that our babies have a wonderful daddy who is there for them when I can't be, and I remember that it is hard work feeding two kids dinner, giving them baths, and trying to get them to go to sleep by one's self.  Trust me, baby, I know!

Sometimes - I worry that all this education stuff is not going to pay off.  Seriously, the debt is overwhelming!

Always - I remember that I am following a greater PLAN.

Sometimes - I just want to pack up and travel the world (okay, seriously, this is always).

Always - I enjoy planning these trips online.  I have "booked" my fantasy trips a dozen times and keep checking the prices.  We are planning a big celebratory trip next Spring before I graduate and begin that grueling bar prep experience.  We want to go somewhere tropical and relaxing, but we will be taking out kids with us.  I cannot imagine going anywhere without them which may surprise some followers.  We have priced trips to Hawaii, Bahamas, a Disney cruise, and Cancun.  I really think we are leaning towards going to Cancun because we can stay at an all-inclusive resort and come out cheaper than all the other destinations.  Plus, I would love the cultural experience for the children and getting to see the ancient ruins of Chichén Itzá and the Mayan pyramid which is one of the great wonders of the world.  Hey, I'm just trying to check things off my bucket list!  My husband and I have already been to Hawaii, but if you have been to any of these destinations and have advice, I welcome it.  We are currently starting the process of getting passports for us and the kids which looks to cost about $500.  The all-inclusive resort is Club Med Cancun.  If anyone has stayed at one of those resorts, I'd love to hear about it.

Sometimes - I wonder how any baby can be this rotten!

Yes, that's a temper tantrum, folks!
Always - I think he and his brother are just the sweetest things in the world!

Sometimes and Always #3

We are back again this week for more Sometimes and Always with Megan at Mackey Madness.  Check her out and meet some more great blog friends at this great link up.

Sometimes:  I wish my babies would just stay babies forever.  They were so cute when they were wittle!

Always:  I am so proud when my babies reach another big milestone.  In the last few weeks, we have celebrated with Evan as he has learned to read and just this week we have watched Brody FINALLY take his first steps on his own.  His main problem has been his lack of motivation, but we have been working hard with him.  Now, his problem is his upper body tries to move faster than his legs.  Ha!

Sometimes:  I like a good class taught by a good professor.  Last night, I had my first Judicial Process class taught by a well-experienced judge, and I am pretty sure this will be that class.

Always:  I am so thankful when I get home from school and see my babies.  Apparently, they were too wild last night, and Daddy couldn't get them to go to bed.  I was kind of glad so that I could see them.

Sometimes:  I don't mind going to work because it is a little break from our crazy busy life at home.

Always:  I am so thankful for a day off with my family.  I am off today "training" a new nanny for the boys and tomorrow we'll celebrate a fabulous Independence Day!  We have some activities planned in our neighborhood including a little parade, the boys have matching red, white and blue to wear, and we have tickets to a good ol' American baseball game with fireworks afterwards.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY, YA'LL!

Sometimes and Always #2

I'm back this week for another Sometimes and Always (well I promised, didn't I?).  Click on over and join the fun!

Sometimes - I can't believe this beautiful baby is really mine!

Always - I just love holding him in my arms and kissing his sweet little cheeks...even though he occasionally bites me!  Haha!

Sometimes - I wish that TV had never been invented especially when there is nothing on but junk reality shows.  Ugh, I hate them all (except the occasional episode of Hoarders which I like for some strange reason...I guess watching crazy people living with all their mess is so interesting to this seriously OCD Type A personality)!

Always - I remember that without TV I couldn't enjoy such treasures as the rebirth of this superb drama...

Oh my goodness...Dallas is back in all its glory!
Sometimes - I wish the weekends were longer and slower and the work weeks were shorter and faster.

Always - I think that I am wishing my life away and that my children are growing up too fast as it is so I better make everyday count and hope that everyday passes a little more slowly.

Sometimes - Well, right now actually, I wish this wasn't my last week of summer break. *Sigh* I have to go back to school next week.

Always - I will tackle this next semester with gusto and hopefully score another Dean's List on my transcript!

Sometimes - I really hate when people ask me how I'm doing.  (A friend from Facebook just reminded me of this one with a post.)  Seriously, the feelings of this overly complicated and busy mom cannot be summed up in just a couple of sentences so unless you want to hear my life's story (although I likely haven't got the time to tell you), don't ask that silly question!  If you do ask me, I'll likely say little more than "Fine" and hurry on my way.  Haha!  But seriously, ask me how my kids are doing anytime...I'll smile and happily tell you because that is a subject that never tires me out!

Thanks for reading!  Now, go link up and write your own...

Sometimes and Always #1

I don't usually blog a lot about my personal feelings, hopes, dreams, and desires.  I have primarily used my blog as a memory preservation tool.  I blog about our life events so that I can preserve those memories and pictures for our children.  However, I want my children to know me better as a person.  I want them to read my words someday and understand who I was and what my life was all about.  If anyone else cares to read these words, then I am grateful.  However, I'll be attempting to do this for me and for my legacy to my children.  In an effort to blog more about myself, I have decided to hop on this bandwagon and do the Sometimes and Always weekly posts.  Here goes:

Sometimes - I am weary and tired of this crazy busy life I lead as a wife, mother, full-time legal assistant, and law student.
Always - I am so thankful for all of these opportunities and wouldn't trade my life for anything!

Sometimes - I want to pack up everything we own and move far away and start over in a new and exciting place.  Am I yearning for more adventure in my life?
Always - I am so thankful I live in a wonderful city and state where my children can grow up close to their family.

Sometimes - I think maybe God has not heard my pleas and cries for help when I feel I have gone through a "crisis."
Always - I know God has and will continue to be there for me and my family.  He has blessed us so much through the years, and when I look back, I know there is no way short of a miracle we'd be where we are today without Him!

Sometimes - I am so scared about our future raising two boys.
Always - I know that although I cannot see the future and only see uncertainties, God knows the future and would not have brought us this far without a reason and a purpose.

Sometimes - I feel so overwhelmed with everything I *need* to be doing.
Always - I find joy in just cuddling on the couch with my boys and watching our favorite shows on TV.

Sometimes - I feel disappointed when my parents can't be there for some of our big life events.
Always - I feel blessed to have my parents in my life and for all that God did to bring us together.

Sometimes - I feel insecure when I look at things other people are doing around me.
Always - I remember that God has placed me where I am for a reason, and I am so blessed to be here.

Sometimes - I can't believe I have managed to stay married to my husband this long.  I mean, seriously, how has he put up with me this long?
Always - I am so thankful that we have stuck together through the good times and the bad.  In 2 days, we will celebrate the ninth year of our marriage!  Happy Anniversary to my one and only!

I'll try to remember to be back next week for more Sometimes and Always so that I can remember to share more about who I am!
