The 11th birthday has become synonymous with Harry Potter these days as the popular books and movies have made this birthday a milestone. Harry gets his Hogwart's acceptance letter the summer of his 11th birthday to begin his training at the magical school. Kids who read the books or watch the movies grow up wanting to have Harry's magical adventures at Hogwart's so this birthday gives them a chance to experience a little of the magic. Brody accompanied his older brother, Evan, on the trip to London's Diagon Alley and Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 2016, but he was too young to partake in many of the adventures at that time. While we hope to relive this experience one day, we took our own little trip by enchanted flying car, enjoyed some frozen butterbeer, and were sorted into our appropriate houses by the Sorting Hat. Brody's letter from Hogwart's arrived by owl, and he also received a special cake from our pal, Hagrid. It was a very "magical" birthday!

Brody's 11th Birthday at Hogwart's
Brody's sweet cake from Hagrid and his official Hogwart's letter which was delivered by a sweet little owl.
We had some yummy Sorting Hat cupcakes to magically be sorted into our House.
Our enchanted car flew us to Hogwart's, and Brody enjoyed a frozen butterbeer and was already hoping to get into Gryffindor.
Mattox just wanted a magic wand while Maggie wanted an owl of her very own.
The birthday boy made his wish for a real trip to Hogwart's!
A special Sorting Hat experience. Which house did he get?
This kid has been a long time fan of Harry Potter and read all the books by 4th grade.
Mattox doesn't care which house he gets into as long as he has a wand.
Grayson just wants a cupcake although his favorite color is blue so he wanted the "blue house."
Miss Maggie just loved posing for pictures, eating her cupcake, and making a mess.
Mommy and Daddy are applying for teaching positions at the school.
The official House selections: Daddy and Maggie were our Slytherins (yikes), Mommy and Mattox were our Hufflepuffs because we are the nicest, Grayson got his wish for the blue house Ravenclaw, and Evan and Brody got their wishes for Gryffidor because they are the bravest.
Our Brave Gryffindor
Brody enjoyed opening his cards from family and getting some money. Isn't that what all kids these days want?

This year's birthday celebration was a bit of a milestone celebration. At 11, he was excited to receive his invitation to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Hmmm, do you think he should attend all the way in England or maybe go to Ilvermorny here in the US? Decisions, decisions. Haha! Evan also received a special birthday cake from Hagrid who borrowed my kitchen for the task. That night, our family enjoyed dinner out at one of our favorite local seafood restaurants and then came home to eat cake and open presents. For one final birthday surprise, Grandma came and delivered his big milestone birthday gift...

An owl woke us up fairly early to deliver Evan's Hogwarts letter to his room. It was complete with tea stained parchment and wax seal.

When Evan arrived home from school, he found his letter and the cake Hagrid made complete with misspellings.

After Daddy got home from work, we went out for dinner at one of Evan's favorite places called Fish Tales.

Daddy was getting extra special love from Mattox.

Evan was "pretending" to slap his mama because of this spicy seasoning on the table. Ha! He knows better. He loves the big peel and eat shrimp now that he can peel them himself.

Grayson was trying to hit him.

The birthday boy with his special cake. I just hoped there was no beard hair in it. Haha!

Brody couldn't wait to see what was in the present. It was his very own laser tag set so he and his friends can play together.

Our EPIC Harry Potter Adventures {2016}
And when I say EPIC, I do mean EPIC! Even if you don't love the Harry Potter books, I can't imagine you wouldn't be impressed with Universal's Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It is just so impressive and well done down to every little detail. Evan and I were in Harry Potter heaven. Universal Orlando has both sections of the Harry Potter world at their two parks. In Universal Studios, there is London's Diagon Alley, and you can board the Hogwarts Express at London's King's Cross Station to journey to the village of Hogsmeade and Hogwarts Castle. Trust me, it is amazing. I will let our pictures tell the tale of our epic and magical adventures.
Then, we were greeted by the friendly Knight Bus driver and his sidekick, the talking Jamaican head. And yes, the head really talked to us in his infamous accent.
Evan and Brody tried to gain admittance to the Ministry of Magic, but I guess they didn't know the secret password. Daddy and Mattox enjoyed strolling down the streets of London.
Then, we found the secret entrance in the wall into Diagon Alley. And that big dragon on top of Gringott's Bank really did breathe fire!
The wall opening to let us in and some magical shops to be explored.
But first, we needed a good English breakfast at the Leaky Cauldron...complete with some Butter Beer. Yum. I went hardcore and got the English breakfast.
The boys and I enjoyed sampling our butter beer and showing off our frothy mustaches.
Had to get a picture in front of the big cauldron.
Exploring Knockturn Alley. Eddie tried so hard to get a picture of the dragon breathing fire, but we were just never in a good place for the shot.
Evan and Brody standing before the Head Goblin.
We tried to go back to No. 12 Grimmauld Place that night, but old Creature just looked menacingly at us from his window. He looks out the window when you knock on the door loudly.
The next day, we headed to Hogsmeade for more adventures. I just love the look of Hogsmeade village. Can I live there?
Since Brody couldn't ride The Forbidden Journey with us, he and I enjoyed riding the Flight of the Hippogriff coaster.
Then, we headed to eat breakfast at The Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. I enjoyed a more American breakfast of pancakes that day.
Then, we all enjoyed Honeyduke's candy shop, and I loved seeing Hermione's pretty purple dress from the ball in Goblet of Fire. Evan cast a spell at the toy shop that made a rocket shoot up.
Then, we all enjoyed watching him cast a spell to make a giant chocolate frog box open and the frog croaked to life.
He made this pot tip over to reveal some evil looking creatures inside.
Almost ready to ride the Hogwarts Express.
We arrived at Platform 9 3/4 in London, and Evan attempted to go through the wall. Haha!
Yay for the Hogwarts Express!
I swallowed my fear to brave the Dragon Challenge and ride a blue Hungarian Hornback. Yikes!
