Brody's 1st Month ~ Time is flying by!
1ST DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT
Tuesday, May 3rd
He's all ready to go on his first outing.
Hmmm, wonder what's in store for me today?
So far so good. Just laying here in the nude waiting for the doctor. Just got a weight check this visit to see that he had put back on a few ounces since leaving the hospital. He weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz. when he left the hospital and was back up to 8 lbs. 5 oz. thanks to Mommy's milk coming in! Hope he keeps that up!
This baby has been such a great sleeper at night. He does still have to get up to eat, but he usually goes at least 4 hours and usually longer between feedings at night. The middle of the night feeding is usually around 3:00 or 4:00 a.m., and he goes back to sleep with no problem. He sleeps in this little bassinet right beside Mommy and Daddy's bed for now.
Wrapped up in his towel after his first "sponge bath."
So cute at 1 week old.
Playing with Daddy.
FUN WITH BIG BROTHER
Big brother was entertaining him.
Big brother loves you, Brody!
Evan was copying Brody.
1ST TUB BATH
Evan had been asking to help bathe Brody since Mommy got the bathtub out of storage before Brody was born.
Evan was like "Okay, now what do we do?"
Evan thought Brody would like to play with his toy dinosaur.
Evan checks to make sure Mommy does it right.
Pretty, clean baby! Smells good too!
He looks so much like his Mommy here!
Giving Mommy the evil eye.
Best friends forever!
Yep, he's the little brother although we suspect he might be bigger than big brother soon.
3 weeks old ~ growing too fast!
Sweet sleeping baby.
In his Sunday best.
Love his cute little booties!
Mommy's little charming prince.
Cute little doggie on his booty!
Love this blanket that Mommy's family friend, Mrs. Diana, sent us.
1 Month Doctor Appointment
Brody met his and Evan's doctor, and she was very impressed with his growth. He weighed 10 lbs. 2 oz. and was 22 inches long.and was in the 50th percentile for both height and weight. I call that "perfection." He is such a great baby, and we love him to pieces!

Cousin Emma's 1st Ballet Recital
Cousin Emma had her first ballet recital this weekend so Mommy didn't want to miss it. Emma has done dance for a while, but her previous recitals were tap. She seems to really like ballet better, and she has the beautiful figure of a ballerina. Cousin Evan loves Emma and also wanted to be there to cheer her on. Emma has a big fan club!
There's our star ballerina!
All of the ballerinas were given crowns at the end of the performance.
Beautiful Emma with her flowers after the show.
So serious and proud!
Emma's biggest fans: her brothers and cousin!

Another Saturday Ballgame
I am really going to miss these Saturday ballgames. We only have a couple more weeks of t-ball left! Mommy missed a few of Evan's games since Brody was born so she definitely wanted to see him play again this weekend. Brody seems to love the outdoors so she wheeled him out in his stroller, and he slept through the whole game. Everyone enjoyed getting to see him, and Evan loved showing him off! Evan played like a champ for his little brother too!
Big brother thought he couldn't play without his sunglasses on his hat.
Evan is up at bat.
Ready to knock it out of the park.
Running to first.
Looking back at Mommy from first.
Giving Mommy thumbs up!
A pep talk from Daddy at third. He did very well this time and didn't act too tired or bored.
Daddy and Evan give Mommy thumbs up!
Ready to catch some balls. He made several great plays this game!

Brody means Brother
When picking a name for our second little man, we wanted to pick a name that was special and just encompassed all the love we already felt for him. I love to look up name meanings and origins. When we picked Evan's name, we wanted a Welsh name because the Reeses are from Wales. After I picked the name Evan and after he had arrived, I used Ancestry.com to do our family tree and found so much data on both of our families. We traced the Reese family all the way back to the late 1600s when the first Reeses arrived from Wales and settled in Delaware. The son of the Reese who brought the family here was actually named Evan, and he seemed to be the one who took the family to South Carolina. For Brody, I just couldn't find another Welsh boy name that I really loved so I branched out to Irish and English names. Eddie suggested that we use Brody because it is closely related to the Irish word for brother. I picked Brody's middle name "Rowen" because it means "little red one" and I did kind of hope he might be another red head (I am not disappointed that he came out with dark hair because he is so gorgeous!). I also liked that name since it was so similar to Eddie's mom's name.
Now that I see how much Evan really loves his little brother, I could not think of another name more perfect than Brody. I am sure that the friendship they will share as brothers will be the closest connection they have in the world, and I can't wait to see the relationship grow. I love these boys!
