NC Mountains

We went back to the NC mountains this weekend so that Eddie could help my brother with some stuff for his employer. We stayed in the cabins at Canoe Club again, but it definitely seemed like a different place in the winter than it did in the fall. For one thing, the pretty mountain lake outside the cabin was completely frozen over so Evan got to experience "ice-skating"...without the skates, of course!

Here are some pictures of our weekend adventures:

Evan at Canoe Club in Cashiers, NC!

Evan goes for a walk in the woods. Actually, it was warmer on this trip than it was in the fall, but the lake was still frozen from the freezing cold temperatures earlier in the week.

Photobucket
Me and Evan are firm believers that the "Road Less Traveled" should be frequented more often! :-)

The side of this mountain looked so cool with snow and ice formations clinging to the rocks!

"Skating" like a pro!

Photobucket
Cashiers Lake after the rain and warmer temperatures melted the ice in less than 24 hours!

A little photo shoot of Evan. He is wearing his "E" shirt from My Hammies, Emma's preschool best friend's Mom's business!

Sweet boy!

Photobucket
Baby Reade looked like a Teletubby in this little jacket! So cute! His Mommy can find the cutest kids clothes!

Evan plays in the snow at the Sapphire Valley Ski Area!

Photobucket
Throwing snow "rocks"! They were too hard to be called snow "balls"!

Photobucket
Sitting on the cold snow...I bet his little bum was cold! :-)

Photobucket
Preparing to throw! He's got quite a pitching arm!

Photobucket
Yes, Mommy received the impact of most of these throws!

Outhouses?

Photobucket
Haha! Yes, this is an outhouse made to look like a little house! They weren't really "in use" but were just made to "race" down the slopes!

Photobucket
Thomas was an outhouse too! Can you imagine "going" in Thomas? The kids would love that! :o)

Photobucket
Yep, the little sign said this was Thomas the "P" Tank Engine! Haha!

Photobucket
Sitting on everyone's favorite #1 engine!

Photobucket
My little train conductor!

Emma goes skiing!

Photobucket
Emma got her first ski lessons. She did great!

Photobucket
Learning the proper stance! Can't believe my niece learned to ski before me! :-/

Photobucket
Look at that ski bunny ready to take off down the mountain! Thank goodness for zoom lenses so I could get these shots!

Photobucket
Here she comes!

James & the Giant Peach!

You know you remember that book! We had to stop in Gaffney, SC on the way home and let Evan see this big peach!

Photobucket

There are two "Jameses" in this picture!
