Mattox ~ 38 Weeks

One week to go!  Oh my!  This past week brought us so many crazy days of cold, wintry weather and traveling with Daddy to Raleigh to try to finalize our moving plans.  We are kind of glad that we have postponed the actual moving business until the week after Mattox's arrival so that we can utilize this week to rest up for the big changes ahead.  Thank goodness we did finally get our house plans finalized so that we will have a house to live in after Mattox is born.  We went to Raleigh to check out a house in the town of Fuquay-Varina just south of Raleigh after losing hope of another house that we wanted in the town of Holly Springs.  We felt that Holly Springs was a better location for our family primarily because of the schools.  After viewing the Fuquay-Varina property, we were still pretty disappointed in losing the opportunity to live in Holly Springs.  The house in Fuquay would have been a good 20 minute drive or more with traffic to take Evan to school in the mornings because the school was way on the other side of town.  They really need more than one elementary school in that area because they are already overcrowded in the current school.  We had also wanted to get Evan in a year round school district, but Fuquay was still on a traditional calendar year.  We did like the house's spacious two story floor plan though and thought we could live with it for a year at least.  Then, we checked online again and noticed that the house we wanted in Holly Springs was back on the market.  We immediately called and got the management company to lock us in on that one since we had already applied and been approved.  So although the house will likely not be our forever home, we feel pretty good about our choice to make this community our future home.  It is such a new and growing community and has been one of the fastest growing areas in the country alongside Raleigh which Forbes magazine named the #1 fastest growing city in the U.S.  Charlotte is also up there at #5 so North Carolina is obviously a very popular choice for relocation.  So now that we have a future home, we are just settling down to wait for Mattox's arrival hopefully this Sunday.  Yes, it will definitely be an anxious week, but at least Daddy is staying home with us.  Oh and yes, we still have the weather to contend with and another chance of some wintry weather in the forecast.  Sigh.

Weight Gain:  Baby is growing great and is likely at or near the 7 lb. weight mark.

Maternity Clothes:  Definitely although even most of those are not fitting great now.

Sleep:  Still just waking up mostly to turn from one side to the other.  Mattox seems to be snuggling down lower and lower and does cause me some pretty intense pelvic discomfort.

Best Moment of this week: Finalizing the new house plans was a big moment and taking the boys exploring in their new city. I also finally managed to figure out how to crochet some baby booties.  I had made a couple of attempts that did not turn out too well so I am glad to finally have some cute little booties to put on Mattox's little feet.

I made them a little big so that hopefully they will fit his little feet for a while.  I didn't want them to be too little.
Movement:  He's still pretty active, especially during his NST sessions and at night.

Food cravings:  Nothing really and my appetite has slowed down a little since I have significantly less room for food.  The boys and I enjoyed some warm beverages and bagels after a cold wintry day at the park last week.

Food Aversions: Nothing but reflux is still as bad as ever after eating and at night.  Milk and Zantac do still help some, but it can still be a real pain.

What I miss:  I think what I miss most is the peace of mind that comes with pregnancies when you have never suffered a loss.  Most people really take that for granted.  I will just be so glad when he is here safe and sound.

Gender:  Another adorable and quite spunky baby boy.  Should be lots of fun!

Symptoms:  Mostly just tiredness and some heartburn/reflux.

What I'm looking forward to:  Meeting Mattox in less than a week, getting settled into our new home after Baby Mattox's arrival, setting up Mattox's nursery (my OCD really hates having to wait on that one, but I think it will be easier when I am not pregnant), and just holding our sweet little baby in our arms and hearing those first cries!  Surprisingly, I am really looking forward to those late night feedings and cuddling.

Dear Mattox,

You are only allowed a few more days to snuggle in Mommy's tummy and then we are insisting that you come out to play.  Your brothers have been waiting too long and so have I.  So you better enjoy these last few days because the world and our family are awaiting your arrival.  We love you so much, little one!

Love,

Mommy
