This weekend was a fun weekend for our family. With the end of summer only a month away, we really want to squeeze in as much fun as we can. Mommy knows her weekends will be a lot busier when school starts back, and Evan will be starting a new school too! We decided to take Evan to a fairly new children's museum in Huntersville just north of uptown Charlotte called Discovery Place Kids. It is set up like a little town where kids can "pretend" they are grown ups working as veterinarians, bank tellers, firefighters, grocery store clerks, mechanics, farmers, etc. Evan still wants to be a fireman when he grows up so he loved seeing the big firetruck!

Evan climbs on the firetruck!
Evan the fireman meets his hero!
Trying on the real fire helmet. Mommy was hoping its heaviness would discourage him from this career choice.
Riding in the firetruck.
Gotta play with the gadgets.
The Town Hall was the center of the town and the stage for the puppet show. Evan was not interested in watching the puppet show.
The bank in the town. It had a cash register with "real" money and a working teller drive thru.
The little town grocery store was cute with play food on the shelves, grocery carts and baskets for shoppers, and check out lines with registers and scanners. So cute, but it was crazy busy in there.
Brody enjoyed his ride around town.
Captain Evan on his boat.
Evan gives baby brother a ride in his race car.

Brody got some play time too.

After spending the morning at the children's museum, we met Grandma, Papa James, and Aunt Naomi for lunch at Chick-fil-a and spent the afternoon playing at home. On Sunday, we enjoyed cooling off at the pool. Well, we tried to cool off, but the pool water was so warm it wasn't very refreshing!
Brody loves the water.
And his Mommy too!

Throwing the ball to Daddy.
Daddy caught the ball.
Just having fun with Daddy!

Can you tell Evan loves him?
