Evan's 5th Birthday Party!

This party was really all about Evan.  He chose the theme.  He chose the location.  He heard Mommy and Daddy talking about what to do for his birthday party, and he said "How about cowboys?"  And then, he heard us discussing possible locations.  "How about bowling?"  What can we say?  The kid knows what he wants.  Mommy set to work to plan a cute cowboy themed bowling party for him.  He was so excited to invite all of his new friends from school, and he had such a great time that he said, "That was the best birthday party ever!" Yep, that's all the thanks I need to hear!

Cowboy brothers are ready for the party!

Mommy set the table for about 20 kids.  The bowling alley was wonderful and supplied us with all the party supplies, but Mommy knew her little man had to have his cowboy theme.

Photobucket
Can't have a party without balloons!

Photobucket
Mommy also made some special cowboy treats for the little trail blazers.

Photobucket

Photobucket
Cowboy cupcakes.  Yes, Mommy made the toppers too.

Photobucket
Evan and his old pal, Bryant, enjoyed getting together again.

Three of Evan's favorite girls, Ashlee, Julia, and Scarlet.

Photobucket
Evan bowled the whole game in his cowboy hat.  We thought it was actually neat that he got the highest score (90) at his birthday party and just attributed it to the fact that he was having such a good time.

Photobucket
He was pretty excited!

Photobucket
Cousins Lanny and Reade love to bowl too.

Photobucket
Reade was proud of his turn.

Photobucket
We were quite a spectacle!

Photobucket
Evan's special "friend" Ashlee loved bowling with her daddy.

Photobucket
Bryant is ready for his turn.

Photobucket
Looks like a good shot.

Photobucket
Cole, a friend from t-ball and soccer.

Photobucket
Evan and the other kids played a whole game and were very good at waiting their turns.

The delicate girls decided to use the ball roller.

Cole bowling like a pro.

Photobucket
What a fun group!  Evan likes playing with Julia almost as much as her twin brother, Jack.

Photobucket
Our little neighbor, Levi, gets a turn.

Photobucket
Levi wanted to be a cowboy too.

Handsome cousin Lanny.

Grandparents watching the game.

Photobucket
Time for pizza!

Photobucket
School pal, Daniel, really likes pizza.

Photobucket
And Levi gives the best "cheese" smile ever!

Photobucket
Sweet Porter loves pizza too.

Photobucket
Crazy kids.  The boys and the girls were taking turns "annoying" each other.

Photobucket
Apparently, Evan and his friend Ashlee have a special relationship.  She told her Mommy not long after school started this year that they were in love.  At the party, she told Evan, "See Evan, we both like cheese pizza" like she was telling him about how much they had in common.  Young love...sigh!

Making a wish and blowing out his candles.

And eating a yummy cupcake.

Photobucket
Evan's cousins insisted he had to open his presents before leaving the bowling alley.

Photobucket
Is it Christmas?

Photobucket
He got a cool bug catching lazer gun that he couldn't wait to use.

Opening up his presents from Grandma and Aunt Naomi....new cowboy guns he asked for because his old ones broke.

Evan's Spring School Events

Evan has really had some fun times at school in the past month.  I just love getting all the pictures from his teacher and seeing all the fun they have.  I want him to enjoy looking back at all of these pictures and remembering all of his preschool friends.

Photobucket
Our little leprechaun made a green shamrock for good luck.

Little artists at work.

Photobucket
Little construction workers.

Photobucket
They set a trap to catch a leprechaun!

Photobucket
And went on a leprechaun hunt!

Photobucket
Doesn't our little man look like a leprechaun?

Photobucket
Listening to the teacher reading the clues on the leprechaun hunt.

Photobucket
Following the clues.

Photobucket
I think they may have caught one in their trap.

Photobucket
All of the kids wait anxiously to see what's in the trap.

Photobucket
Evan and his friends learn how to paint a rainbow.

Photobucket
They made this beautiful work of art!

Photobucket
The class with their piece of art.

Photobucket
Time for egg hunting.

Photobucket
Lining up for the hunt.

Photobucket
And he's off!

Photobucket
His teacher, Mrs. B, wears the craziest hats!

Photobucket
Evan and his buddy enjoy the hunt.

Photobucket
Time for the party.  Evan and his class planned the menu and even prepared most of the food.  I think the menu was chicken nuggets, mac 'n cheese, carrots, and strawberries.

Brody's 11th Month

Brody's Stats at 11 months:

Size: Although we haven't been to the doctor this month, we suspect that because of Brody's good eating habits, he has continued to grow steadily and weighs somewhere around 21 to 23 lbs.  This boy just loves his food so much.  He can still wear a size 3 diaper and wears mostly 12 month and some 18 month clothes.  Daddy has put some of big brother's 24 month shorts on him, and they actually fit pretty well.  Big brother can actually still wear the same size!  Brody doesn't really appear that chubby to me, but it is obvious that he is built thicker than his brother.

Developmental Accomplishments:  He finally crawled...and not just commando crawling either!  He is full speed ahead and has been adventuring all over the house.  He is definitely testing all of our baby proofing now.  He has also added two more teeth this month for a total of ten teeth (four on top and six on the bottom)!  After Brody started crawling, we caught Evan calling him "Sparky" and telling him "No, Sparky, you can't do that."  Haha!  We think Evan thinks his baby brother is more puppy than human these days since he moves on all fours.  Brody is just so loving to us all.  When Mommy walks in the door from a long day at work, his little face lights up, and if she doesn't immediately come and get him, he will start whining.  Once Mommy gets to him, he just grabs hold and hangs on for dear life.  He is so sweet and funny!  He has also mastered saying "Mama" and "Dada" and wakes up in the morning calling happily for "mama."  Just makes my heart swell so big!  He still loves bath time with big brother  and just loves to splash in the water.  He has been wanting to go to sleep a lot earlier and take longer naps since he has been crawling so I assume he is getting more tired from all the extra exertion.    He also still really loves his “silky” blanket.  He has also mastered playing peek-a-boo and was playing it with big brother the other day using the curtains that hang behind his high chair seat.  He would hide behind the curtain and then pull the curtain away from his face quickly and give us a big grin and giggles.  When he would hide, Mommy would say "Where's Brody?" and when he would show his face, she'd say "There he is!"  He loved this game!

Sleeping:  Brody definitely knows how to appreciate a good night’s sleep, and we are so thankful.  He loves sleeping in his crib all night and wakes up as happy as can be and gives the person who rescues him from his crib the biggest baby grins.

Eating: Yep, he still loves to eat, and with all those teeth, it is no surprise that he can eat more substantial meals!  He is still loving stage 3 baby foods and crunchy baby puffs and yogurt bites.  He has eaten a few table foods and really loved mac and cheese.  He eats three good meals a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and also loves his baby snacks too.  He is also still drinking a good amount of organic whole milk.
