Back to School 2022

The kids headed back to school in mid-August with a 10th grader, 6th grader (middle school...yikes!), 2nd grader, kindergartner, and preschooler.  It was crazy getting all five kids off to school, but we survived!

5 babies are ready to go to school.  Yes, it makes me very anxious sometimes to send them off, but we feel confident their schools are where they need to be.

So much to look forward to this year.

As a Sophomore, Evan plans to continue getting all A's even in his two AP courses, Computer Science and European History, and especially in his favorite engineering class. He also plans to run varsity cross country and track and field and to advance in his JROTC pursuits.

Brody is excited to go to a new school which is across town.  He is most excited to take Band and Art.

This little poser has big goals to accomplish.  He wants to read lots of books and get more comfortable talking at school.

Handsome Second Grader

Oh this little kindergartner and his smiles will steal hearts!  And he's smart too!

New school!

Cool first day of school signs at school.

Brothers getting to go to school together!

Mommy loves these boys!

The cutest little bear!

Heading to his class on the red hall.

Finding his seat was easy with his personalized picture to color.

Big brother shows little brother around his new school.

Checking out Mattox's new classroom with his wonderful new teacher and his favorite special teacher.

We would come to truly love and appreciate this teacher.

Sweet Mattox finding his seat on the first day.

Miss Maggie heads back to her old school for another year with her same preschool teachers she loves.  We had a special meet up with her teacher to get her comfortable with her classroom, but she already was.  She hadn't forgotten a thing!

A Summer Visit to Riverbanks Zoo {July 2022}

We needed to have one last summer hurrah before the kids went back to school and before Mattox's special friend moved away.  This friendship was such a special relationship for Mattox who does not make new friends easily.  Mattox and his buddy made a connection because they both wear special BAHA hearing aids and work with the same special teachers at school.  Mr. J is a good influence on Mattox because he is very outgoing and social and loves to talk.  J also has a little sister close to Maggie's age so that was another instant hit.  Sadly, they decided to move to the mountains for a change so we will not get to see them as often although we do plan to keep up the friendship.

A lovely hot summer playdate at the zoo.

Checking on the bears who were feeling very hot and lazy.

Brody and Grayson were feeling very brave to tackle the high climb like their biggest brother Evan.

They all followed Evan's lead.

Evan encouraged Brody to make it across.

Brody was fine on the rope bridge.

Evan is an old pro now.

Brody kept getting more brave.

Mattox and Grayson had to make sure they were tall enough.

Mattox tried his best but decided heights weren't for him.

Daddy tried to be brave too.

Grayson would like to ride a real tiger please.

Evan says you are never too old for the carousel.

Daddy and Brody agree.

Maggie loves riding a lioness.

Grayson thinks it would be cool to ride a zebra.

Happy girl!

Mr. Mattox liked his noble steed.

Feeding the birds is always an adventure.

Trying to entice a bird to come down to the kids.

I encouraged one onto my hand and then passed him on to our pal J.

Feeding the giraffes is usually a favorite, but they were too hot to be interested in food.  They just walked away and never came back.

Sweet friends at the zoo.

The moms and sisters wanted a girl picture, but the boys would not allow that.

Cooling off at the splash pad.
