Soccer Videos

Video:  Evan really shows off his skills as he does his warm-ups for soccer.  He was so cute doing jumping jacks!

Video:  Evan plays a soccer game where he learns the "heater" and "freeze" commands mean to either "dribble" or "stop" the ball with his foot.  He was a pro at both techniques thanks to Daddy's teaching!

Evan's 1st Day of Soccer

Daddy signed Evan up for a little soccer program this Fall at a neat local facility called Sports Connection.  He isn't quite old enough for team sports yet, but we want him to be prepared when the time comes.  Evan loves any sport, but he has always held a special interest in soccer.  He is really good at kicking and can control the ball well with his feet.  Daddy's teaching had really paid off today as he showed off his skills in dribbling and stopping the ball.  His coach said he was a "soccer star."  We were so proud of him!

More about our growing family

Well, since Evan broke the news to you, I guess I need to follow up with more details.  I had my second doctor's appointment this week to talk to an OB nurse about my medical history, etc.  At our next visit in a couple of weeks, we should be able to hear the baby's heartbeat.  Evan will probably go with us.  As you could tell from his post, he is pretty excited about the new baby.  Ha!

We found out we were expecting this little angel on August 28th but wanted to wait a while before sharing the news.  Yes, this was planned, and we are amazed how well it worked out!  We had always thought 4 years was a good age difference between children.  We just felt like having another child earlier would have taken some of Evan's chance to be the "baby."  We have just enjoyed him so much and wanted to spend as much time as possible with him.  Evan will turn 4 in March, and this baby will be born at the end of April or possibly even the first of May.  Also, my Spring semester will be over around the same time so I will have more free time for Evan and Baby!

Mommy Update

Well, I am still feeling pretty crummy most of the time, but I am optimistic that things are going to get better very soon.  I have been feeling pretty lightheaded and nauseated most of the day and about the only time I feel remotely okay is while eating.  I try to snack a lot to keep from getting sick, and mostly, that has worked.  With Evan, I had bad morning sickness and carsickness and actually got sick about everyday for the 2nd and 3rd month, but this time, I have managed to keep myself from actually getting sick although I feel worse most of the time.  I guess that is the tradeoff, huh?  With work and school, you can imagine that doesn't lend a lot of time for rest and recovery so I am dealing the best I can.  Evan and Eddie are very helpful in just making me smile and keeping my mind off the bad stuff.  Smells can be pure torture sometimes.  I don't remember this symptom with Evan, but maybe I just blocked it from my memory.  If I am not eating, I am usually sucking on a preggie pop, a jolly rancher, or chewing gum.  Hey, whatever works, right?  Oh and yes, I feel like I am gaining weight super fast this time!  :-(

Baby Information

Due Date:  April 25, 2011
Baby's Sex:  Unknown
Baby's Size:  About 2 inches
Baby's Age:  almost 12 weeks

Last weekend, we put Evan's new "Big Brother" shirt on him that we ordered from a local dealer on Etsy and had a little photo shoot in our yard.  It was a pretty day for pictures, and the fresh air seems to help me feel better.  Thank goodness for cooler weather!  Here are some more of the gems we got:

Evan's Big News

Photobucket
"Oh Brother!"

So Mommy and Daddy tell me I am going to be a big brother soon.  I think that sounds like a really big job!  My cousin, Lanny, is a big brother, and Baby Reade is pretty cool so maybe it won't be that bad.  Mommy seems to want a baby girl, but I don't know about that.  If I had a baby brother, I would share all my dinosaurs and transformers with him, and he could even have some of my old toys.  But I don't have any baby dolls for little girls!  Mommy says the baby will come after I am 4 and will arrive sometime at the end of April.  Mommy has been really tired and sick lately, and I hope she feels better soon.  I love my Mommy and Daddy, but I sure hope they know what they are doing!

Love,

Family Pictures

While at the beach for Lanny's birthday, we took an opportunity to take some family pictures on these beautiful NC beaches.  Ocean Isle is a beautiful place.  We think these pictures caught the essence of our happy family!

Cousin Lanny's 4th Birthday was a "bowl" of fun!

So for Lanny's 4th birthday, he wanted to go to one of his favorite places with all of his family...THE BEACH!  They have been spending even more time at the beach this Summer since buying a beach house, and the whole family joined them for a fun weekend.  Another of Lanny's favorite past times is to go bowling at Planet Fun while he is at the beach.  The kids really enjoyed bowling together and playing lots of games.

30th Birthday Celebration!

While I didn't have the big 30th birthday party that I thought I might have, I did spend it with the two people who mean the most to me...my babies!  I love my sweet boys!  They really made my birthday special.  We spent my actual birthday at the beach since it was on Labor Day weekend, but once we got home, Eddie and Evan surprised me one night with a sweet chocolate cake with raspberries on top that they made especially for me.  I know, I am so lucky!  They also had some beautiful flowers for me to cheer me up since I had experienced quite a shock the day before with the loss of my little doggie, Jingles.  I am still sad about that, but he stayed with me so long that I really can't complain.  He is at rest in his own little back yard with a sweet little memorial stone reminding us of him everyday.

Labor Day Beach Trip

We desperately needed this one last Summer trip together before the hectic chaos of school and work began again...and it was a great way to celebrate Mommy's big 30th!  We had a great time in a fabulous resort in Myrtle Beach with a large indoor waterpark.  Evan went down the waterslide with a little coaxing from Mommy!

He left me on the waterslide and decided at the last minute to go down by himself.  I was scared he would get scared at the end because the water got a little deep so I rushed down behind him.  He was just fine without me!

PUTT PUTT WITH FRIENDS

Photobucket
We met our friends and next door neighbors for a fun night of dinner, putt-putt, and ice cream.

Photobucket
Evan played like such a big boy and finished the game.  I am pretty sure he beat Mommy.

Mr. Eddie (or Uncle Eddie as Evan called him) was very gracious in letting his wife and son beat him.

I just love his sweet expression here.

Of course the adults had to have some sweet treats too!

Evan goes for a horseback ride.  This adorable ice cream parlor was chock full of old timey play things.  My favorite was the old carnival game where the men squeezed the handle to see how "hot" they were!  ;-)

Some sweet Labor Day fireworks.  Apparently, we weren't supposed to stand on the bridge, and Evan was not liking the smoke blowing in his eyes.

Photobucket
Had to get a picture of these boys together!

And one of the old friends too!
