For Evan's 2nd birthday, we had planned to have a real Diego safari adventure at the Lazy 5 Ranch, a local ranch/petting zoo with lots of exotic animals. Unfortunately, for the second year, the weather did not cooperate with our plans. It was going to be a rainy, cold day AGAIN! Well, our backup plan emerged into lunch at Pizza Hut and some warm, indoor fun at Monkey Joe's. We all had a pretty awesome time. Evan's birthday was on Friday this year so Mommy and Daddy along with Nana and Papa went to Evan's school and threw a little class party for him. Most of the kids in his class were young one year old's who still had little experience with cake so you will see a difference in the messes they made.
Here are some pictures from Evan's school party:
Evan is ready to par-tay in his Diego shirt and party hat!
Evan's class loved eating cupcakes for Evan's birthday. We also had apple slices and bananas for a healthier treat.
Ms. Kelly, Evan's teacher in the 2 year old room, joined the party with her daughter, Lila.
Mommy, Ms. Kelly, and Evan's favorite teacher, Ms. Carol, all had a good time watching the kids getting messy. Ms. Carol had the bright idea to put their art smocks on them so they wouldn't mess up their clothes...she's a smart lady!
Evan had to have the orange cupcake...his favorite color!
He was definitely neater eating his cake this year!
But he still had the cutest little cake face!
Do they not have the same cheesy smiles? Haha!
Evan and "his" Ms. Carol! He still loves her!!!
Evan's class loved his birthday balloons!
Here are some pictures of Evan's fabulous Diego adventure party with friends and family:
A cute picture of the birthday boy in his party hat! He had the complete Diego outfit...shirt, pants and shoes!
Evan's super cool Diego cake. Mommy found a picture she liked online and our bakery made a similar cake.
A close up of the cake. Wasn't the waterfall beautiful?
All decorated for the party. Lots of orange...Evan's and Diego's favorite color!
Evan shows us his pouting face.
Now he's happy...Aunt 'Omi gave him some coke!
Still Mommy's baby at 2!
Daddy and Evan pose for a picture.
A picture with his Aunt 'Omi!
Uncle Paul is so silly!
Baby Reade gets in on the fun too!
The kids are ready for cake!
Evan still loves cake, but now he uses a fork instead of his hands! They make so much progress in a year.
Cousin Lanny is serious about his cake.
Grandma helps Evan open his presents.
It's Diego! Thanks, Aunt Jessica!
Evan loves Monkey Joe's!
Can you believe Mommy can fit in this tunnel?
I love his face!
He thinks he's so big now!
He still loves to slide!
Especially with Mommy!
He was a little less enthusiastic about the big bounce room. There were a lot of big kids in there.
Cousin Lanny is so brave at Monkey Joe's!
Evan's new friend Skylar loves to smile for the camera. Evan really liked her and even tried to kiss her good-bye!
Evan was showing off for Skylar! Don't you just love her eyes and her curls? She is a doll!
Evan is having a blast!
Evan wasn't too sure about everyone singing "Happy Birthday" to him. He acted a little shy, but he got over it!

Evan's 1st Snow ~ 2009
Winter 2009 was the most wonderful winter of our lives...so far! We actually got SNOW! It seemed like forever since we had seen a decent snow, and we were so glad Evan was old enough to play in it with us. We enjoyed showing him this winter wonderland that God had placed in his own backyard. Although it wasn't planned, we all ended up in our red winter coats. Luckily, we found a snow suit for Evan at our local Burlington Coat Factory, and it will be big enough for next year! (Here's hoping anyway!) Evan also enjoyed sharing this wonderful time with his cousins, Emma and Lanny.
Here are some of the fantastic pictures we captured of this memorable experience:
Evan puts on his snow suit!
His first look!
"What is this stuff?"
Mommy and Evan love snow!
He's a snow baby!
Hmmm...it's cold and wet...
Does it get more beautiful than this?
Walking in a winter wonderland!
Daddy plays with his boy in the snow!
So cute...he fell down and wanted Daddy to help him up.
Walking with Daddy.
Evan's 1st snow angel!
We spotted a deer watching us playing in the backyard!
The snow was deeper at Uncle Paul and Aunt Jessica's house.
Emma looks like she is doing a snow dance!
I think Lanny tried to ice skate on the sidewalk!
Uncle Paul prepares a snowball for someone!
Evan was about knee deep in the snow here!
Emma looked cute here!

Evan goes sliding in the snow...instead of sledding!
Emma, Lanny & Evan put the finishing touches on their snowman!
Mr. Snowman had a very short life after Uncle Paul launched his snowball attack and Emma tackled him to the ground! :-(
