Grayson's 6th Month

What a big month for you!  Sitting up, rolling over more, playing with your toys, getting teeth, and eating lots of yummy food has really made this an awesome month for you.  We are so proud of our big, healthy, happy little boy!

Size:  You went back to the pediatrician on June 8, 2017 for a well-check and shots.  You had just gotten over a little cold that had slowed you down a little on eating for a few days, but you were just about back to normal.  You weighed 15 lbs. 13.2 oz (between 10 and 25 percentile) so we suspected if it had not been for the cold, you would have been over 16 lbs.  You were up to 28 inches (90th percentile) in length.  I bought you size 3 diapers because you started leaking out of the size 2 ones a lot.  You can still wear some of your 3 to 6 month clothes but you need more 6 to 9 months for length.

Developmental Accomplishments:  You are still very happy and love to be talked to and played with. You were doing better at rolling over onto your tummy to reach toys that you wanted.  You could almost sit fully on your own by the end of the month.  You were also getting stronger on your feet and legs to be able to stand on your own holding our hands.  You have great neck control when sitting up.  You have been working on those fine motor skills too and love banging your toys together and making lots of noises.  You make circles all around your exersaucer and enjoy playing with all the toys on it.  You still hate being left alone and will let Mommy know if she is gone too long.

Sleeping:  You are still sleeping good at night.  You usually go to bed by 9:30 or 10:00 (sometimes earlier) but often wake up around 6:00 to eat now because you are a hungry and growing little man.

Eating:  You are doing great with eating and are still primarily breast fed.  You still refuse to take a bottle, but I don't mind as long as you are getting plenty to eat.  We have been increasing the amount of your solid food intake gradually as you have tried a whole range of new foods through the month.  You are now solidly on a 3 meals a day routine with breakfast, lunch and dinner and four to five breastfeedings.  You have eaten avocado, bananas, sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, pears, apples, and brown rice cereal.   You usually eat a fruit for breakfast, a green vegetable for lunch, and an orange vegetable for dinner.   You always eat everything we give you so we will likely be going up on the amount this month.  You started out eating one baby bullet serving (I think one is about 2 oz.) at each meal so we will be going up to 2 bullet servings.  I also measure by ice cubes since I freeze baby food in ice cube trays.  You eat two ice cubes which fill up one baby bullet so I think one cube is about an ounce of food.

Teeth:  On your official six month birthday on the first, I noticed your first bottom front tooth breaking through when you tried to bite my finger.  Within a couple of days, your second one broke through so you have two teeth now.

Nicknames:  Grayson Payson (goes with Evan Pevin, Brody Pody, Mattox Pattox), Gray Pay, Gray Gray, Baby Goo (because he is just a little gooey sweet mess)
