Brody's Big News!

Brody ~ 2 years, 5 months

Beware...this story is about poop!  This kid is really excited!  Tonight, he decided to officially become a big boy.  After dinner, he was telling us he needed to go potty.  He has been telling us for a while that he needs to go before he actually does number 2 in his diaper so that was pretty typical.  I checked his diaper and told him he hadn't done anything yet.  He has been getting very frustrated and wanting his diaper changed or removed before he even goes potty.  After a few minutes of waiting, we headed upstairs for bath time.  While taking his bath, he acted like he was starting to go so daddy put him on the potty.  He waited but nothing happened so he finished cleaning up and getting ready for bed.  Then, we went downstairs to watch a little TV together.  He laid with us for a little while and then got up and made signs of needing to go potty again.  I asked him if he wanted to sit on the potty again, and he nodded yes so we got his potty chair and let him sit on it.  He was giggly and acting silly and kept standing up.  When I would ask if he wanted his diaper back on, he would sit back on the potty.  Finally, during one of the moments he was standing, he starting pooping so I helped him sit back down, and he finished his business.  We are proud that he knew what he needed to do and that all the poop did go in the potty.  A little pee pee did get on the floor, but we'll call this a successful potty adventure.  While we have in no way officially started potty training, I think Brody on his own has decided that he is ready to begin the adventure.  While potty training Evan was not difficult, it did take him longer to decide he was ready, and he learned to pee pee on the potty before poop.  Brody just seems to hate having poop in his diaper.  At first, while sitting on the potty after doing his business, he seemed a little unsure about whether he had done a good thing and had a bewildered expression on his face.  We immediately cheered and praised him and asked him for high fives, and he was all smiles again.

  2. I like your poop disclaimer at the beginning. Ha ha! Way to go Brody! Such an exciting time for him and his diaper changing parents.

Sorry I have been totally absent. I have read all of your posts but have been so bad about commenting. The last 2 weeks were just crazy busy and I was mostly reading blogs on my phone in between groups at work or while laying in bed. I'm on break now, so bring on the posts!
