How We Celebrated Independence Day

Could also be titled how we "survived" Independence Day!  But really, we had an awesome day together as a family.  To beat the heat, we headed to the pool in the morning to enjoy some more fun in the sun.  After the pool, we took baths and naps to prepare for the late night festivities.  After a quick dinner, we headed to the Charlotte Knights stadium (our local minor league baseball team) for some good ol' American fun.  This event boast one of the best fireworks shows in the southeast, and in the past, Evan has really loved it.  They play music during the show which seemed to help drown out the loudness of the fireworks.  Apparently, this year he decided he didn't like it.  Oh well, he did manage to enjoy a few other things.  The ball park has a kids area with a carousel and a bounce slide and a baseball throwing practice game.  He loves the carousel because it has a little dinosaur that he loves to ride, and he loved showing off how well he can throw a baseball.  Seriously, the kid can throw with the best precision...he hit the "target" 10 out of 10 throws!  Entertaining Brody was a slightly different story, but he seemed to enjoy himself most of the evening and even woke up to watch the fireworks.

Daddy and his boys wearing matching red, white and blue.  We went with Old Navy t-shirts for $4 a piece.  Gotta love that!

Oh my, what a face!  I love this silly guy!

Pretty American boy.

He had to ride this little dinosaur.

Sweet boy.

Here he comes.

There is just something so cute about a little boy holding Daddy's hand.

And this is what Evan preferred doing instead of watching the game...playing Angry Birds on Daddy's phone.  I guess he prefers playing the game to watching it.

Silly Daddy.

And this is one of the things Brody did to occupy himself.  He also enjoyed drinking lots of water and eating Dippin' Dots.

So cute sitting in a seat like a big boy.

It's Homer the Dragon.

Brody watching the fireworks.  I didn't take any pictures of the fireworks, but we've all seen enough of those to know what to expect.

  1. I wish I could get my husband to match outfits- It happened as a fluke this year, but only he and Chatham.

  2. We buy new Old Navy flag shirts every year! I love that all your guys matched. Just precious.

I cannot even believe they had that little dinosaur on the carousel. I think Evan was bigger than it! Too funny.
