A Weekend of Boy Fun

This weekend was just a ton of fun for Evan, but we all managed to enjoy ourselves a little.  Evan and his cousin Lanny had been plotting a sleepover for a while so we finally managed to arrange that for them.  Lanny is the second of four children so he enjoys getting to "escape" from the zoo for a little while.  Of course, he does bring a little of the zoo with him wherever he goes.  His mommy said his house was way too quiet while he was away.  The whole Smith zoo actually came over on Friday evening to play a little after dinner, and they left Lanny for the night.  All of the kids (including little Cate, the youngest of the crew, and Uncle Paul, the oldest) enjoyed a big light sabre duel!  On Saturday afternoon, Evan had a birthday party to attend for a little boy in his preschool class.  He and Alejandro will also go to the same school for kindergarten as Alejandro lives in our neighborhood.  The boys had a blast playing together at Space Kidets, a little fun playplace with bouncy moonwalk type fun, and Evan enjoyed seeing his favorite girl, Ashlee, too!  On Sunday, we enjoyed a great church service and then ate our traditional Sunday lunch with Uncle Paul's family at Brio.  We then went home to nap, do the week's laundry, and get ready for another week.  Daddy had to get ready to leave town today for a little trip to Atlanta, and we also had to make a little trip to Target for a few groceries and necessaries for the week.  All in all, it was a pretty typical weekend for us!

Yes, even the girls (Emma and Cate) like light sabres and Star Wars!

Popcorn...yum!

Flying spaceships.

Evan's buddy, Alejandro, enjoyed his birthday party.

Silly kid!

Here comes Evan!

Shooting hoops in a room with bouncy floors is not as easy as it looks!

Brody joins the fun after waking from his nap.

Miss Ashlee enjoys jumping and sliding in style!

Photobucket
Man, that kid sweats when he's playing hard!

Photobucket
Awww, this is Luca, Alejandro's little brother!  Isn't he just a doll?

The big birthday boy.

Pure sweetness!

My sweet boys.

Miss Ashlee had a friend to play with too.

Photobucket
Sweet boy.  His eye was red and swollen from one too many  pokes to the eye with a light sabre the night before.

Photobucket
Happy Birthday, Alejandro!

Photobucket
Evan much rather prefers ice cream to cake.

Photobucket
He loved this little mini-golf set in the arcade room.

Photobucket
Brody enjoyed riding the snow mobile with big brother.

Photobucket
Alejandro telling his friend, Ashlee, goodbye.

Photobucket
And of course, Evan had to give her a hug!

Photobucket
Brody hid under the table with his golf club.

Photobucket
He enjoyed learning to play golf.

Photobucket
Brody knows how to get a hole in one!

Photobucket
I might have to set Daddy to work making us a little mini-golf course at home.  These were so cute.

Photobucket
Daddy and Evan enjoyed a game of air hockey.

Photobucket
Evan just had to have this Spiderman web shooter.  We all paid the price!

Photobucket
Silly string was everywhere!

Photobucket
Thank goodness it cleans up easily!

Photobucket
Yes, I got it too!
Photobucket
And the baby, of course!

  1. Looks like a very fun weekend and an awesome birthday party.

But let's get down to the real reason I'm here. Seriously Sherry! When will it end? The same birthday?! The SAME BIRTHDAY?! How is that even possible? There are 365 days in a year. We need to start some sort of excel document where we compare and contrast ourselves. If we did a similar column and a different column apparently the similar column would have 99% more items.

    The same birthday?! Really?!

    1. Yep, it is freaky! I guess the only differences I've seen so far are our "jobs" and the states we live in. I hesitate to even figure out if we were also born in the same year although I suspect it is close. Although neither of my kids were born on Sept. 6th, my nephew was. It might be fun to do a comparison/contrast table since I know we are both fond of those too. :-)

  2. I swear your boys just get cuter and cuter!!!! Looks like they had a really great time at the birthday party. I'm so with Evan on preferring ice cream to cake!

I replied to all of the amazing comments you left me throughout the day but I'm not sure if they ever get to your email. We absolutely need to meet up very soon. I would really love that. Anytime y'all aren't busy we can head up to Charlotte for an afternoon!

    1. I replied to this by e-mail already, but I just wanted to post that we have definitely got to schedule that meeting. There are tons of things we can do in Charlotte, or we could possibly plan a day in Columbia too. Eddie has been wanting to go to the Columbia zoo (although I love our NC zoo because it has bigger and more animal-friendly habitats, it is a pretty far drive since it has to be in an area with lots of space). We could do Discovery Place or some other fun kid and adult friendly place.
