Evan's 1st Soccer Game

Go Strikers!

Evan was very excited to begin soccer this fall and was also very excited that he gets to wear his favorite color!  He is playing U6 which means kids up to 6 years old.  Evan is one of the youngest players at almost 4 and 1/2, but he really knows his soccer.  He has always loved the sport and learning to kick a ball was one of his first physical endeavors.  Seriously, the kid loved a ball from the earliest age!  And I think we have another little ball lover on our hands too.

It was a hot September day and they were all getting tired, but they played like little champs.

High Fives to end a good game.

We were quite proud of the skill and sportmanship we saw from our little soccer players on the field.  Although they didn't technically score the most goals, they really all showed a lot of technical skill and knowledge of the game.  After only one more practice, they did "win" their second game.  U6 plays 3 on 3 and are not supposed to have goalies yet, but both of the teams we played chose to go against the rules and place kids at the goals.  We didn't want to complain, but our kids were still a little hesitant about kicking the ball at a goal with another kid standing in the way.  They did let loose more the second game and scored some good ones despite the improper play by the other team.  Evan scored his first goal by "siking" the goalie and going one way and then kicking the other.  The goalie was fooled and actually helped the ball into the goal.  Ha!  It was a pretty good move for a beginner!
