Evan and the Great Pumpkin

Our yearly trip to the pumpkin patch had a few kinks, but we still call it a success.  Evan got a little cranky and ill so we didn't get any family pictures this year, but we did get some good shots of him and his cousins.  Of course, he loved all the animals and the tractors!

We saw Jupiter!

The sky was so beautiful this past weekend, and we had heard that we could get a good glimpse of Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system.  We don't actually have a telescope although if Evan's interest in outerspace continue, we may need to get one.  Anyway, we thought we would just see if our telescopic lens for our camera would zoom in enough so we could see the phenomenon.  We weren't expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised that we found the planet as well as two of its moons.  We couldn't actually get our camera to hold the focus and take the picture, but it was still neat to see.  We also captured some beautiful shots of the gorgeous full moon.  Did you see it?

Photobucket
This tiny little dot was Jupiter.  When we zoomed in, you could see it had a reddish glow around it.

Photobucket
A zoomed in but poorly focused picture of Jupiter.  It kind of looks like an amoeba, huh?

Photobucket
The beautiful moon.  So glad we paused to enjoy this "small" wonder!

14 Weeks

So last week at 13 weeks, we heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time at my monthly doctor's appointment.  The baby seemed to be hiding under my much stronger pulse so it was difficult to find at first.  We finally got Baby to cooperate, and the heartbeat was calculated to be 160.  Everything else seems to be going well so far.  Next month, we will have our first ultrasound and hopefully will learn a little more about this little person.  Boy or Girl?  I can't wait to find out so I can start planning and shopping!  Haha!  According to my weekly babycenter.com update, the baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and suck its thumb.  If it is anything like Big Brother, it will love its thumb.  And yes, I am calling the baby an "it."  What else should I call "it"?  ;-)

I think I may have felt a few little kicks and nudges, but who can really be sure yet?  It seems to happen when I lay in a certain position or twist my waist to look behind me.  I haven't really taken any more pregnancy pictures yet but maybe I will get on the ball one day soon.  Blame Eddie - he's the camera guy!

Evan's 1st Trip to the State Fair!

So a couple weekends ago (I have been so busy and have to get caught up on here), we (just me and Evan because Daddy had to work) had a busy weekend traveling to Raleigh.  Mommy went to cousin Andrew and Ashley's wedding in Cary.  It was a really beautiful and fun wedding...perfect for a fun-loving young couple!  The wedding was a late night affair so Evan stayed with his Nana and Papa.  They spoiled him, of course, and took him to eat pizza...pepperoni of course!  Then, they let him stay up really late watching his TV shows.  On Sunday morning, Nana made him pancakes...again, spoiled!  Then, we had lunch with Papa at his favorite restaurant, Andy's.  Haha!  Gotta love some greasy hamburgers and fries!  After lunch, Evan and Mommy headed to Raleigh for some fun at the State Fair.  Unfortunately, it was crazy crowded, and Evan was not loving the crowds.  He did manage to ride a few rides, including his first roller coaster with Grandma...Mommy had to sit that one out!  Mommy did enjoy getting some goodies though...funnel cake, cotton candy, and caramel apples...YUM!

Here are some pictures of our crazy day at the fair:

Photobucket
Evan's first fair ride by himself...the helicopters!  He really wanted to ride the green one (his newest obsession is anything green) so he was a little disappointed and sad here.  Poor baby!

Photobucket
Coming off the ride like a big boy!

Photobucket
Waiting patiently to ride the carousel.

Photobucket
Riding the carousel.  Again, he didn't seem too happy.  Probably because we still hadn't found Grandma and Aunt 'Omi.

Photobucket
Trying to smile.

Photobucket
Playing his first carnival game...fishing for sharks.  He caught a bunch!  ;-)

Photobucket
A very serious fisherman.

Photobucket
His first carnival prize!

Photobucket
Ridin' his first coaster with Grandma...yep, he was terrified!  Haha!

Photobucket
Feeding a llama at the petting zoo...animals are always a hit!

Photobucket
They even had a baby kangaroo.  So cute!

Photobucket
Feeding a baby goat some carrots.

Photobucket
But the goat seemed to like Evan's pants better.  Haha!

Photobucket
More feeding.  He was so cute making sure he fed every animal we passed.  He would tell the "greedy" ones "No, I already fed you!"

Photobucket
Evan and his little goat friends.

Photobucket
Begging for more carrots...like they weren't getting enough to eat!  Ha!

Photobucket
Evan saw his favorite animal...a camel!  He wants to ride one...haha!

Photobucket
A two hump wump...a little Dr. Seuss for ya!

Photobucket
At the end of the day Evan and Mommy were very tired from all the walking.  On the long walk back to the car at Carter Finley Stadium, I just had to snap this picture for Daddy.  One day, they will go to some football games together!

Mommy did not enjoy the long drive home to Charlotte in the dark, but I guess it was a good weekend.  We missed Daddy so much!
